BETTING ALMOST KILLED ME(The story of a youth in Kenya)

Joseph Kimani or as He likes it Josee,He is now 21 years old in 2020.

It all Begun in 2017 at the Age of 18 Years old,Josee was Living with his Mother,Father,and His Two Young Sisters but the Father would go away and stay for long without Coming home leaving the Mother to Feed the Family alone.

They were not well off but the Mother tried her very best to put the food on the table.

By that time josee was in his final year in high school and his school performance was average.

His friends who were also not well off would at times come with very expensive shoes to school and when they were at home he would see them with Expensive Phones.

Just like a normal youth would react,Pressure begun to build up on him because he also wanted to be like his Friends.

So he approached one of his Friends who introduced him to betting and because josse badly needed the money and also fit in with his friend,He begun betting with a small button phone he had and that was the beginning of josee's nightmare.

He would use up all his small pocket money to bet and at the beginning he would get double his money and he also started to buy expensive things just like his friends.

Life for him was better than never but.

Towards the beginning of second term josee's mother had some cash of about ksh five thousand and she decided to give it all to his son to pay his school fees.

Josee was by now totally addicted to betting and any money that came his way the First thing that would come to his Mind was just betting,And he did just that.

He said to himself if he Could bet with the Five thousand he was given by hiS mother then the money would double and he would pay the School fees,give her Mother three thousand and remain with two thousand and he saw that his mother would be very happy to get some money from his son.

Josee went on and placed the bet with all the money and lost it all because his team lost this time,At first he thought he was dreaming but After sometime reality hit him and since he had no money to pay school fees and knowing very well that his mother was going to beat him up and the fact that the mother really struggled to get the money he decided to Commit Suicide

where he wanted to jump from an unfinished building in the school.
